Back pain is one of the most common conditions that afflict many people. There are many causes of back pain, including muscle and ligament damage, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, and osteoarthritis.
There are also a wide variety of treatments for back pain, and acupuncture is considered one of the most effective methods.
Acupuncture is a treatment in which special needles are stimulated along the body’s energy flow, called meridians, to improve blood circulation and nerve transmission and relieve pain and inflammation.
Acupuncture may be based on a Western medical diagnosis, or it may be based on an Eastern medical diagnosis.
In Oriental medicine, back pain is thought to be caused by deficiency or stagnation of qi and blood, or by the invasion of cold or damp.
Therefore, acupuncture aims to restore the function of the lumbar region by promoting the replenishment and distribution of qi and blood, and by expelling evil spirits.
How is acupuncture performed? First, the acupuncturist palpates and interviews the patient’s lower back to determine the type and degree of back pain.
Next, the acupuncturist explains the method and effects of acupuncture to the patient and obtains consent.
The acupuncturist then applies disinfected needles to the patient’s lower back and lower extremities.
The needles are generally left in place for several minutes to several dozen minutes. The needles may cause a sensation of warmth, heaviness, or tingling, which is said to be a good response as it indicates the flow of qi and blood along the meridians.
After acupuncture treatment, you may feel relaxed or sleepy, which is also a natural phenomenon.
Back pain can be effectively improved by acupuncture.
Acupuncture involves inserting needles along the body’s meridians to regulate the flow of qi and blood and restore function to the lower back.
Acupuncture has been scientifically proven effective and is superior to other treatment methods.
If you suffer from back pain, we encourage you to try acupuncture.
